Channels, groups or websites for your own business?
In the previous part of this post we parted with a question that we may consider central to the three with which we started it: “What does binds, what does Telegram relate to other social networks?”
This question implies at least two others:
- why should you spread your Telegram resources on other social networks?
- why should you spread your initiatives/activities on Telegram when there are other social networks?
If we neglect the nuances, these latter questions may seem trivial; on the contrary, if we give them the right attention, they will surely allow us to appreciate the landscape from another perspective and with its varied opportunities.
Surely the novelty attracts, the desire to experiment something new is latent in everyone; any reluctance, the result of a sort of “inner war”, occurs later and – if genuine – depends on multiple individual factors.
A growing number of users, who currently populate the established social networks, experimenting Telegram have found it suitable for their expectations and prerogatives. Then they began to differentiate the contents and/or to move them to Telegram. Some have succeeded, others are still looking for the right method, while others have reached a satisfactory compromise/balance between the various platforms, unlike those who have given up and branded it as unsuitable. In this panorama we leave out those users who seem to be “paid” to discredit everything that risks driving the masses away from the interests that Telegram seems to threaten.
Today internet users are responsible and feel the need to express their responsible freedom by avoiding the masked and hinged one of regulations, which are increasing exponentially and absurdly compared to the justifications given. The various authorities can no longer play at being “parents”: the children have grown up, just deal with it.
We no longer look for no man’s land and with difficulty accept that slave of laws, regulations, legal quibbles and gags. The absolute majority of Internet users do not claim a kind of new “far west”: they do not like to support the new digital colonizers and - above all – they do not like to play the part of those owners of a continent who have ended up living in reserves.
In our opinion, nowadays Telegram is the platform that most of all guarantees greater freedom of expression; probably because is free from socio-political-financial interests.
If someone on a totally white wall notices only a few black dots, he should take the opportunity to undergo some honest reflection – as long as this choice is not the prerogative of other objectives not clearly stated.
So, why should we promote your Telegram channels/groups on other social networks when they don’t have such relevant features on these and we are already present with activities?
Surely because we want to communicate to those who follow us the matured decision to move to another platform, in a more fertile ground for our content and consequently – probably – also favorable for them. Certainly there is an underlying dissatisfaction in the current platform that pushes us to look for, experiment with new ones and this, in the specific case, is not done to reach the users on those platforms; basically it is done because you want to give your projects, ideas and businesses a real expression, equal opportunity and competitiveness compared to others belonging to the same platform.
Ultimately, yes, Telegram, with a growth of 10 million weekly users, is an attractive alternative to the more famous social networks and their policies.
All this allows us to answer affirmatively to the two initial questions:
- yes, Telegram is effective for our business because it does not create any interaction and/or limitation with your own;
- yes, it is an established alternative because it has a growing base of users who trust its few, healthy, clear and practised constitutive principles.
The third question – “can Telegram replace classic websites?” – we will address it in the third and last part of this long post because, as stated at the beginning, these questions deserve a broad study, not a monosyllable answer.
